Four years ago this summer, I got the sweet gig of being a nanny for the two best kids! A mutual family friend knew that I was coming home from K-State for the summer and knew of a woman in need of a nanny for her little girl, Maddie, and boy, Hunter. I thought that this was going to be the best job ever! I love kids so I thought it would be perfect. I mean, who honestly doesn't love getting paid to hang out with two fun kiddos and lay by the pool?! At the time, I didn't realize what the best part of the job was going to be... The HOTT uncle!
Mark came by one day after his internship because he wanted to visit his niece and nephew. So cute, I thought. Later, I learned that he had a hidden agenda... to check out the new babysitter! After a quick, chaotic conversation with kids running around the house, Mark decided to ask me on our first date! We went to Timberline and then to the movie Ratatouille, which he failed to tell me he had already seen! We hung out a few more times over the remainder of the summer and then both headed back our own ways (I attended K-State while Mark was at KU.)
After texting some throughout the school year, I decided it would be a fabulous idea to text him when I was in Lawrence on my best friends 21st birthday. This day (March 31st) eventually became known as our "textaversary!" We would continually text through the rest of the school year but nothing was really coming out of it because I was living in Manhattan for the summer and Mark was going to be back in Wichita. Neither of us knew when we would actually be able to get to see each other. One of the few weekends I was going home, Mark had to be in Lawrence for a fraternity event, and I was bummed out I wouldn't have the chance to see him again!
That Saturday night, I was lying in bed when I got a phone call from Mark and he wasn't making too much sense. Long story short, they were out at a bar when some guys starting causing some trouble and punched Mark's good friend Pete! Mark tried to stop the guy so that the police could get him and in the middle of this got thrown into a car tire and landed in the hospital with yet ANOTHER concussion! (He was had his fair share of these!) Since he got the concussion, his friend Andy ended up driving him back to Wichita the next afternoon. I felt really bad that he had gotten hurt but at the same time was excited because I was going to have the chance to see him!
